In his letter to the Galatians, Pauls says, "it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God." Paul offers us another perspective on 'the life that wants to live in me.' That life is the transformed life, our new life in Christ, that divine life already begun in us and yet not complete. On the Lenten journey, we use spiritual disciplines to renew our vision of that divine life within. We use prayer, fasting, and scripture reading to wear away our attachment to the outer life, to free us from the false lives that we live so that the true, glorious, life within us can shine forth.
In addition to coming to the BelovedBlog to comment on the readings, we can share our successes and failures in trying to maintain the spiritual disciplines we have chosen for Lent. We can be a community of support for each other, encouraging each other to honor the life that wants to live in each of us.
